SPRING 2007 CHAPTER NEWS:

MTNCSfN TRAVEL AWARD NOMINATIONS
This is a call for nominations of graduate students and postdoctoral trainees for a travel award to attend the 2007 SfN meeting in San Diego.

The national organization offers travel awards to honor outstanding graduate students and postdoctoral trainees nominated by their local SfN chapter. The competitive awards are $500 for graduate students and $1250 for postdoctorals. Only members of the Middle Tennessee Chapter of Society for Neuroscience (SfN) can submit nominations.

We will follow the SfN format for nominations:
SfN Chapters Graduate Student Travel Award (GSTA)
SfN Chapters Postdoctoral Trainee Travel Award (PTTA)

Nominations should be submitted no later than Friday, June 1st, 2007, 4:00 p.m. C.S.T., via email to terri.ray@vanderbilt.edu.

The following materials are required for nominations:
Completed application form (GSTA or PTTA)
Copy of the nominee abstract submitted for the 2007 annual meeting
• A one-page curriculum vitae from the nominee including the following information: education, including the date at which nominee advanced to candidacy for the Ph.D., honors/awards, publications (abstracts and manuscripts)
• A one-page letter of recommendation from the advisor

The local Selection Committee will submit the winning applications to the national chapter. Rankings will be based on the scientific merit of the abstract and the letter of nomination. Competition, especially at the postdoctoral level, is stiff. Therefore, a strong, thoughtful letter of nomination is critical and will be an important factor in our rankings.

Annual Dues: Investigator-$20; Trainee- $10
NOTE: Chapter dues received Memorial Day 2007 - Memorial Day 2008 will be applied for the 2007-2008 membership.
