JULY 2006 MTNCSfN News

June 2006 Contest: Congratulations!!! Jennifer Steiner & Adeola Davis
Please join me in congratulating graduate student Jennifer Steiner as the winner in this event. Jennifer receives a $50.00 gift certificate for the Sunset Grill. Graduate student Adeola Davis came in a close second with her submission and she receives a $25.00 gift certificate for her excellent effort. The winning submissions, together with those from faculty (i.e. were not eligible for the prize), will be discussed at the next business/poster meeting.

Annual Business and Poster Meeting: Friday, 25 August 2006 (tentatively scheduled for 3:00 – 6:00 pm). Program activities will include the graduate student poster competition, and we plan to have a picnic style reception with food/drinks in the courtyard outside the 1220 MRB III lecture hall facing the Vanderbilt University Divinity School. Details for the meeting will be forthcoming, but one exciting agenda item is the planned MTNCSfN Retreat and Workshop to be held in ZAMBIA (check out http://www.zambiatourism.com) in the summer of 2007! Yes this event will be exclusively open to MTNCSfN members and the details for this will be provided at upcoming business and poster meeting. Of course, I encourage our membership to submit additional ideas and activities they wish reviewed at this meeting.

Annual Dues: Investigator-$20; Trainee- $10
Membership runs from July-to-July thus members become past due after July 31 if they have not sent in their annual renewal.

It is our goal to turn this chapter into a vibrant and purposeful organization worthy of joining.

Sincerely,

Sanika Chirwa, Ph.D.
Associate Professor, Physiology, Meharry Medical College
Adjunct Associate Professor Vanderbilt University
